About the Society

An initiative of the East Texas Crisis Center.

The Purple Jacket Society mobilizes men to become informed advocates, community leaders, and ambassadors for the life-saving work of ETCC.

Core principles

Education first

Every member completes Texas Men S.P.E.A.K. before representing the Society.

Survivor-centered

Survivor stories and information are never shared without ETCC authorization and consent.

Accountability

Membership represents responsibility, service, and visible support for ETCC.

Long-term movement

Sustained engagement across East Texas — not a one-time event.

The jacket

Responsibility as much as recognition.

The Purple Jacket is a visible sign that a man has invested the time to learn, has accepted the responsibility to stand against abuse, and is willing to help lead that conversation in East Texas.

It is earned through membership and education — presented after completion of Texas Men S.P.E.A.K. A formal blazer is worn for ceremonial and public leadership; a casual jacket for outreach, volunteering, and everyday visibility.

Leadership & governance

  • PJS is an official program of ETCC, not a separate legal or tax-exempt entity.
  • All donations, sponsorships, dues, and event proceeds are processed through ETCC financial systems.
  • ETCC retains final oversight of mission alignment, survivor-centered communications, finances, legal matters, and brand use.
  • A PJS leadership committee manages member engagement, events, outreach, recruitment, and fundraising within approved policies.
  • ETCC may appoint a staff liaison to the leadership committee.

Founding officers and steering committee will be announced at launch.
